Building of the Month March 2021: Bransford Mill, Bransford, Worcestershire, WR5 6JL

When we first added Bransford Mill to our Buildings at Risk Register in 2014, it had been acquired by new owners along with the house in whose grounds it stands. At that time we reported that it was in a very poor condition having been neglected for years and we hoped that the future of the mill would be secured through restoration work. Sadly, this did not happen and the house, and its mill, are for sale again.

Sitting on the banks of the River Teme, this early nineteenth century, grade II listed, water-powered mill is in a sadly derelict state. It has a brick and timber frame structure with a hipped tile roof. Some of the original mechanisms are thought to survive inside. The mill has had planning and listed building consent for conversion to residential use in the past.

Today it stands in a declining condition with a considerable number of slates missing from the roof and the building is overgrown with vegetation.  It stands in the grounds of a beautiful Georgian grade II listed 6 bedroomed house which itself is in good condition and is currently for sale through estate agents, Morgan Aps.  Click here to see the particulars.
