SAVE Britain's Heritage is looking for a highly organised and motivated Events Manager to join our team. This is an opportunity to help us build on our successful in-person and online events and deliver an exciting programme of talks, walking tours and special visits.
The aim of this job, through our events programme, is to develop and increase SAVE’s public profile, reach new audiences, and promote awareness and understanding of our work as well as generating additional income for the charity. See our current and previous events here.
This is an exciting time to be joining SAVE on the back of recent high profile campaign successes and as we look forward to our 50th anniversary celebrations in 2025. Working with the director and other members of the team, a key role of the new Events Manager will be planning and delivering an exciting programme of events to celebrate this milestone in our history.

Key tasks
Events
- Devise and manage a programme of profit generating events aimed at retaining existing supporters and widening our reach including in-person and online events. This includes walking tours and larger events such as our annual lecture.
- Liaise with speakers and tour leaders to arrange event and follow up
- Manage promotion of events across social platforms, SAVE website, Mailchimp.
- Manage Eventbrite ticketing and Zoom platforms
- Manage feedback for future event programming and organisation
- In conjunction with colleagues, help organise special supporter events
- Contribute to the setting of budgets (income targets and expenditure) and monitor and manage all targets, income and operating costs within given budgets
- Take personal responsibility for all the administration and database requirements arising from the post holder’s role, ensuring accurate and up to date records are maintained
- Liaise with the director and wider team, to develop and deliver a programme of events to mark the 50th anniversary of SAVE
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required in the post.
Person specification
Essential
- A keen eye for speaker talent, fresh and diverse voices to help us reach wider audiences
- Highly organised
- Experience of setting and managing budgets
- Experience and understanding of digital marketing and marketing platforms
- Experience of operational management and delivery of a variety of events and excellent planning skills
- Excellent administration and information management skills and the ability to trouble shoot and problem solve
- Evidence of delivering successful events that have delivered revenue
- Evidence of delivering online public events through Zoom or similar platforms
- Excellent written, editing and proofreading skills with outstanding attention to detail
- Experience of briefing and working with speakers, event guides, and locating and organising venues
- Specific experience of working with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and working platforms such as Teams or other platforms. Willingness to learn other software packages eg video editing
- Organised and flexible approach with the ability to prioritise workload and manage several projects simultaneously
- Ability to think creatively and to work under own initiative to meet strict deadlines
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive ‘can-do’ attitude
Desirable
- Experience of event management in charity context or supporter driven organisation
- Experience of digital marketing in charity context or supporter driven organisation
- Experience of video editing
- An interest in heritage and re-using historic buildings
Location and hours of work: Our offices are based in Farringdon but occasional travel in England, Wales and Scotland may be necessary. The appointee will work 21 hours a week (3 days) between 9.30-5.30pm with an unpaid hour long lunch break. Time-off in lieu is given for attendance at events outside these hours. An element of flexible WFH considered. A fair degree of flexibility will be required, especially when campaigns are in full swing.
Salary: The salary will be circa £32,000 pro-rata
Reports to: Director
Duration: A fixed term contact of three years is offered, beginning as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal
Annual leave: 25 days plus office closure for three days between Christmas and New Year (pro rata 17 days for 3 days a week)
Probation: The probation period for this role is 3 months.
