SAVE welcomes Francine Douglas-Home as new trustee to governing board

5th March 2021

SAVE Britain's Heritage is delighted to announce the appointment of Francine Douglas-Home to the charity's governing board. Francine Douglas-Home has a background in finance and accounting.

Francine's appointment comes as we fight a number of high profile battles - including the 20 storey tower proposed at Anglia Square in Norwich which has now moved to the High Court, the unlisted MoD owned Edwardian Minley Home farm in Hampshire at risk of imminent demolition and Kinmel Hall in Wales - under threat from neglect and continuing dereliction.

Eric Reynolds, chairman of trustees for SAVE Britain's Heritage says: "This appointment of an experienced individual as a trustee will help to keep up the energy that is required to continue SAVE's important work."

Francine Douglas-Home says: "I am thrilled to be joining SAVE at such an important time - the work being done up and down the country to protect our heritage is crucial and I am looking forward to playing a part in SAVE’s future.”

Other recent changes to the board include James Hall who is stepping down as trustee. James Hall has been a trustee of SAVE for 10 years, including 4 years as chairman of the board. SAVE is hugely grateful for all the work James has put into SAVE and we look forward to staying in touch.

Eric Reynolds says: "James Hall was a wonderful trustee and Chairman and during his time on the board he undertook an important restoration of an at risk property thereby demonstrating that heritage buildings can and should be saved as living and useful cultural objects."

SAVE Britain's Heritage is a strong, independent voice in conservation that has been fighting for threatened historic buildings and sustainable reuses across the UK since 1975.

We are at the forefront of national heritage conservation. We intervene to help historic buildings and places in serious danger of demolition or decay.

We stand apart from other organisations by bringing together architects, engineers, planners and investors to offer viable alternative proposals. Where necessary, and with expert advice, we take legal action to prevent major and needless losses. Find out more about our work at savebritainsheritage.org and follow our campaigns at @savebrit.
