SAVE Walking Tour of Halifax - a mill and market town

This walk takes us in the footsteps of Ian Nairn as we stroll through the West Yorkshire town of Halifax that is dominated by its Pennine valley setting. Although once anchored by the woollen industry, the amazing Piece Hall being one of the great monuments to the textile trades, Halifax retains many buildings redolent of its Victorian wealth as well as of post-war reconstruction and was also once known as “Toffee Town”. Join SAVE and Mike Ashworth to find out why and for a walk down many ‘Quality Streets’ where we will discover the architectural heritage of this fascinating town. 

Tickets: £12 for Friends and Saviours and £16 for general public 

Time: 12.00 – 14.30 

Meeting point: Forecourt of Halifax Railway Station at 11.50 

Route: Generally easy terrain with some slight gradients
