SAVE in the news - October 2023
This month we led viewers of BBC North West Tonight – the regional evening news – on a tour of buildings at risk in Manchester, highlighting their potential for reuse and to play an active role in enhancing their communities. Our work was also covered in titles as varied as Building Design, the Evening Standard in London, the Herald in Scotland and Le Petit Journal.
SAVE's conservation officer Ben Dewfield-Oakley was interviewed by BBC TV reporter Juliet Phillips about the new entries to SAVE’s Buildings at Risk register which were identified during the compilation of our report on Greater Manchester’s heritage, Boom not Bust. The new BaR additions and Ben’s appearance at a public inquiry in the city made headlines in papers across the region from the Manchester Evening News and the Mill to Rochdale News and the Architects' Journal.
The Evening Standard and the Times were among the papers that covered our concerns about plans for a huge development at Liverpool Street Station. And our ongoing efforts to save Ayr Station Hotel have been widely covered in papers across Ayrshire and Scotland including Scottish Construction Now, the Daily Record and the Ayr Advertiser. Meanwhile our casework and BaR activity continues to be covered by all sorts of papers, from the Runcorn and Widnes World to Le Petit Journal.
